1901 Pittsburgh Pirates scrapbook : scrapbook, 1901.

The scrapbook follows the Pittsburgh Pirates, with a special focus on Clarke's husband - Pirates' manager/outfielder, Fred Clarke, through the 1901 season. The scrapbook begins with opening day, goes through Clarke's brawl with the New York Giants and ends with the Pirates' successful run for the pennant. It contains newspaper clippings, box scores, newspaper photographs, and cartoons from the local Pittsburgh press. There is one article from the "Illustrated Sporting News" magazine, written by Fred Clarke. The magazine article refers to the Pirates as the '01, '02 and '03 champions. Either the article is not original to the scrapbook or the scrapbook was created after the '03 season.

Annette Gray Clarke was the wife of Fred Clarke, who played for the Louisville Colonels of the National League (1894-1899, 1897-1899 as a player-manager) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (1900-1911, 1913-1915 as a player-manager). In 1912, Clarke served only as the team's manager. After his playing career concluded, Clarke continued to work for the Pirates organization, as a coach and in their front office.
