Land patent to Volckert Jansen Douw and Jan Thomassen Witbeck, 1663 November 3.

Patent granted to Volckert Jansen Douw and Jan Thomassen Witbeck for an Island in North River (Hudson River) at Gooyers Kill named Schotack (Schodack) in the Mahican Indian language, otherwise, Aepjes Island, together with a parcel of land on the east bank of the stream where the house of Machak Notas stood. This document apparently confirms a contract of sale by the Mahican Indians to the aforesaid parties in exchange for merchandise. `The document bears the seal of New Netherland and was signed by Cornelis van Ruyven and Pieter Stuyvesant.
