Samuel Cooper Johonnot journal, 1779.

Diary of Samuel Cooper Johonnot, kept from 14 Nov.- 9 Dec., 1779, aboard the frigate La Sensible. Entries note Johonnot's voyage from Boston to Spain, including daily life on board the ship, encounters with other vessels, and the weather. Johonnot also discusses his fellow shipmates, including John Quincy Adams, to whom Johonnot later presented this journal. A note near the end of the journal attributes the entries to George Beaufort, a boyhood pseudonym used by Johonnot.
