Papers of Mary A. Burgess, including memorabilia of the First Baptist Church of Charlottesville (Park Street) and the Baptist Young Peoples Union, correspondence, printed material, photographs, newspaper clippings, and business papers. The papers contain minutes, 1943-1944, of the Baptist Adult Union; notes of a committee to select as pastor, 1945; materials pertaining to the Southwide B.Y.P.U. conference, Atlanta, 1932; and material pertaining to missions. First Baptist Church material includes correspondence, invitations and memorabilia; letters, 1930-1944, from the pastor Henry Alford Porter to the Burgess family; Porter's eulogy for Aubrey Burgess; the program of a service of appreciation in honor of the Reverend Madison Lamar Banister; and a bookmark depicting First Baptist Church on Second and East Jefferson Streets. Burgess family papers include a baptismal certificate for Mary Anderson Burgess, the will of A.C. Burgess, 1920; a letter of condolence from the Cecil V. Cook, Gaffney, S.C. and a few business papers pertaining to Burgess Grocery, 1950-1952. Identified photographs include Madison Lamar Banister and Mary Anderson Burgess.
