Part of a group of negatives taken for January 12, 1961, Arkansas Gazette article "Civil War Relics Made Safe for Prosperity," B1:3. Civil War artifacts were "deflowered" at the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas. The artifacts came from Arkansas Post in Arkansas County, Arkansas. Artifacts on display include cannon balls and artillery shells (back row) and grape-size pellets found in the cannons (in the foreground) along with a modern cup to indicate the relative size of the ammunition (1799.2).
