Marion A. Blankenhorn papers, 1916-1918.

Contains correspondence, diaries, printed matter, clippings, orders, printed ephemera, and patient record books and transfer cards, all relating to Base Hospital No. 4 (Lakeside, U.S.A.), directed by George Crile, during World War I. The three patient record books describe chest injuries; the two small diaries are a daily record of events from May 6 to Oct. 29, 1917.

Cincinnati-born, Blankenhorn received his M.D. from Western Reserve in 1914. Prior to World War I, he was an intern and resident physician at Lakeside Hospital in Cleveland. He joined Base Hospital No. 4 when it was formed at Lakeside Hospital in 1917. In 1935 he became director of the Medical Department at Cincinnati General Hospital.
