Shipping document, 1839 September 9.

The document certifies that D. Bancroft, master of the schooner "Emma," has shipped 393 boxes of tobacco for Simon Hancock (for himself, H. Gay and J. Hall) and 50 for P. Lubby from Richmond bound for Philadelphia and the firm of Heald Woodward & Co., and that Bancroft has signed bills of lading affirming the transaction. A note of September 11 from L. Ludlum & Son to Heald Woodward & Co. notes the bill of lading has been sent and the cargo is not insured. The document was later presented as Document E in a court case 1843 May 20.
