The Act of Incorporation is followed by the minutes of the first meeting, which includes the by-laws of the society. Volume contains the minutes of subsequent annual and special meetings of the society, providing information on the election of officers, resolutions, membership, appropriation of funds and the formation of auxiliary societies. One of the founders, and first president, was John Sylvester John Gardiner. The society was dissolved in December, 1836, and its assets transferred to the Board of Missions for the State of Massachusetts.
