Detroit attorney and private secretary to President Grover Cleveland. Jefferson Gage Thurber, born in Unity, N.H. in 1807, was admitted to the bar in 1833, and moved to Monroe, Mich., where he married Mary Bartlett Gerrish of Boscawen, N.H. He held many public offices and wrote articles for newspapers and magazines. He died May 6, 1857 (or May 5, 1858). Their children were Edward G., Jefferson M., Henry Thomas born in 1854, Elizabeth T.
