Document,1691, of John Nicolas when entering the muster of the regiment of the horse. Commissions for John Nicolas as Lieutenant,1695, and as Captain, 1710, in Lord Gallway's Regiment during the reign of William the Third. A 1715 commission for Lewis Nicola as 1st Lieutenant in Major General Irwin's Regiment of the foot. Commissions for Lewis Nicola as Fort Major at Charles Fort near Kinsale during the reigns of George II and George III. A 1776 appointment as Town Major of the city of Philadelphia for Lewis Nicola. Also for him an appointment to the Corps of Invalids, 1777, signed by John Jay and as a member of the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia, 1786, signed by the president of the society, B. Franklin.
