Series 2 of record group RG 80-33 consists of field notes and some unpublished papers of four geologists from the University of Michigan. Stanard Gustaf Bergquist's field notes and guidebooks are included. His field notes includes information on geological surveys of Alger County (1928), Luce County (1929), and Iron County (1930, 1933). His guidebooks explain the glacial geology of the thumb region. In Frank Leverett's notebook, the entries convey information Leverett gathered on a trip he took around the western Great Lakes. He was studying evidence of lake levels of the Great Lakes during glacial times. Also included is an unfinished manuscript of Oscar Floyd Poindexter on Schoolcraft County geology, which includes information on rock formations, the geologic timescale for the county, a section on economic geology, and quality and composition of water supplies. Irving Day Scott's notes are on Grand Haven, Muskegon, Sawyer, and Saginaw in 1942-43. More notes are on the dunes of Pentwater, Brevort, Gulliver, Little Traverse, Portage, Manistique and many other inland lakes. Also included are notes on his unfinished book on sand dunes.
