Contains the following type of material: photographs. Contains photographs of the following military unit: 18th Regiment, U.S. Infantry. General description of the collection: The Eugene A. Salet photograph collection is composed of the personal photos and albums from the last 17 years of Major General Salet's distinguished career. The photos basically begin when he commanded the 18th Infantry Regiment in Germany in 1953 and 1954. He was promoted to brigadier general in 1961. Some of his photos cover the Johnston Island nuclear test of 1962 and Operation Dominic of that year. From 1962 to 1964, he commanded Fort Gordon, Georgia (most of boxes 2, 3 and 11 cover all post and community activities for this period). Boxes 4 through 8 cover his command at the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, from 1964 to 1967. He retired in 1967. From 1973 to 1985, he was president of Georgia Military College and there are a number of photos showing activities, personnel, and scenes there.
