Contains photographs of the following military units: 13th United States (U.S.) Infantry Regiment; 8th Cavalry Regiment; 10th Cavalry Regiment; 18th Infantry Regiment; 28th Infantry Regiment; 19th Composite Wing (in Panama Canal Zone). General description of the collection: The Berenice Fiske photograph collection consists of photos dealing with the careers of Colonel Stevens T. Norvell, Colonel Guy S. Norvell, and Brigadier General Harold B. Fiske. The photos range from the Civil War and officers of the 1st Battalion, 13th U.S. Infantry Regiment service with the 8th and 10th Cavalry Regiments, the 18th and 28th Infantry Regiments to General H.B. Fiske's years in the Panama Canal Zone in the 1930s. The Indian Wars photos are significant and show officers, their wives, and activities at the following military posts (mostly weatern): Fort Custer; Fort Assinniboine; Fort Keogh; Fort Bayard; Fort McDowell, Fort Thomas; Fort Grant; and Fort Wingate. Photos of the years following the Spanish-American War through the beginning of World War I show soldier life at the following military posts: Fort Sam Houston; Jefferson Barracks; Fort Ringgold; Fort Hoyl; Fort Davis; Fort Leavenworth; Fort Bliss; Camp Meade; and following World War I, the various forts and camps in the Canal Zone. Photos of soldiers in the field and at the posts, officers rows, parade fields, parades, quarters, and the pomp and circumstance of visits of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and foreign dignitaries to the Canal Zone comprise the subject matter of this collection.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt.
