The collection contains both personal and professional correspondence, of Dr. Harrison, of Washington, D.C. Letters from fellow physicians include a letter from Henry Davidson Fry announcing Harrison's election to a chair at the Washington Training School for Nurses; a social note from Howard Hines Barker; a letter announcing travel plans from Dr. John Fitzhugh May; and a letter from Edward E. Feild mentioning student days at the University of Virginia, Dr. Meade C. Kemper, James Gatewood's poor health after contracting African fever in the Congo; Douglas Tardy's study in Vienna, and an acrimonious meeting of the state society. He also solicits Harrison's opinion on the use of opium. Harrison's brother Randolph writes concerning family news, an invitation from Fitzhugh Lee, his poor health and trip to the Rockbridge Alum Springs, and a speech he gave at a Fair. Harrison's wife Jeanne writes about her vacation with their chidren at Rockbridge Baths. A few letters from patients discuss their care, including Walter Potts of Charlottesville who mentions family physician w.C. Dabney.
