Manuscript written in France during the second half of the seventeenth century. It is a compilation of texts relating to the Fronde. The volume contains four discrete texts arranged to form a single narrative; none of the authors are cited in the manuscript. The texts are generally quite close, though not identical, to the published versions. The first, on ff.3r-67v, is a text known as the Guerre du Paris, ... generally attributed to Louis Ardier, sieur de Vineuil ... The second text, ff. 68r-79r, is Charles de Saint-Evremond's 1649 Retraite de monsieur le duc de Longueville en son gouvernement de Normandie ... The final two texts are by Francois de La Rochefoucauld. The third, on ff. 80r-108r, is a synopsis of the events recounted at greater length in section III of his memoirs, covering the period from March 1649 to February 1651 ... The fourth, on ff. 108r-198v, ... consists of sections IV-VI of the memoirs, recounting the events of the period February 1651-October 1652 ... -- Bookseller's notes.
