This lecture by classical folklorist and historian Adrienne Mayor draws on the latest scientific and archaeological discoveries to tell the story of one of the most colorful kings of antiquity, Mithradates of Pontus. Mithradates, Rome's greatest rival was hailed as a savior and feared as the "Eastern Hannibal." He was a scientific genius who often used poison to eliminate his enemies.
