Records of water wheel tests, 1869-1874, on wheels sent to the Lowell, Mass. testing flume. Results are arranged by company and include information on head, tail, weir, revolutions per minute, weight, foot pounds, horsepower, etc. Some data are from tests done by Hiram F. Mills Co; Hiram Mills worked with Emerson at the Lowell testing flume to determine economy and efficiency of various wheels. Also contains records, 1874-1880, on water wheel tests at the Holyoke, Mass. test flume, giving the same type of information for each wheel. These volumes are indexed by mill and turbine manufacturer.
