In a letter written in London 17 October 1846 to an unidentified acquaintance, Ida Hahn-Hahn reports that she will be leaving London in a few days, and hopes to meet again before leaving. She mentions taking her novel Sibylle to someone. In an undated [ca. 1852-1860] letter from 63 Lindover Ida Hahn-Hahn writes to Honourable sir, expressing her regrets that she no longer writes novels, and has no inclination to begin again.

Ida Hahn-Hahn was a prolific and popular German writer in the 19th century. Her writing was characterized by strong female characters and lively dialogue. She converted to Catholicism in 1850, entered a convent in 1852, and in 1854 founded a convent in Mainz; during this decade she wrote mostly poetry, but returned to fiction in 1860.
