Letterbook, 1850-1855.

Letters, written from Vandalia and Alton, mostly involve land and railroad business in many towns and cities around the state and many references to sales of stock and transfer of money. Letters to his brother, John, and his father in New York discuss business, money and family affairs. Also some discussion of the land used and the founding of Mattoon.
