Charles Marie Emmanuel Mangin (b. July 6, 1866, Sarrebourg, Moselle, France-d. May 12, 1925, Paris, France), General in the French Army, served in Sudan and in French North Africa before taking part in World War I. He commanded both French and American troops, 10th Army, in the Second Battle of the Marne, and was nicknamed “The Butcher” by his troops. After the Allied victory, General Mangin's 10th Army occupied the Rhineland, and he became a member of the Supreme War Council and inspector gener...
