Samuel Pennypacker -- governor, jurist and historian -- was born in Phoenixville and educated at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied law. He was called to the bar in 1868 and elected president of the Law Academy of Philadelphia. In 1889, he became judge of the Court of Common Pleas and remained in that post for 20 years. Annis Boudinot married Richard Stockton (1730-1781) in late 1757 or early 1758 and became mistress of the Stockton estate. Together they had six children together: Julia (b.1759), Mary and Susan (b.1761, twins), Richard (b.1764), Lucius Horatio (b.1768), and Abigail (b.1773).
