French commonplace book containing a compilation of French verse and prose by various writers from the 16th and 17th centuries, entitled "Recueil de diverses pieces galantes," "par Monsr. B.," consisting of poetry (sometimes risque), songs, epigrams, epitaphs, elegies, and satires by Francois Villon, Clement Marot, Joachim du Bellay, Pierre Ronsard, Remy Belleau, Francois Regnier, Jean Passerat, Francois Malherbe, and others; title page engraved by F. Durand and dated 1695, inscribed "P.J. Gilbert," who altered the date to 1715; manuscript in several unknown hands, approx. 844 p., with additional index and two printed works tipped in at the end, "La misere des clercs des procureurs," (n.d., n.p.) and "La peine et misere des garcons cirurgiens," (Paris, n.d.), with a preface by "Colletet," dated 1674.
