13 letters, 9 of which are to Edward Du Bois, others being to William Hayley, John Acton, J.M. Good, and J. Wilmington Fleming Gordon. Includes three letters laid in loose at beginning of volume. Letters concern Lofft's interests in topics that range from astronomy to poetry, especially versification. (1), to Hayley, includes a lengthy analysis of an epitaph on Collins. (11), to Du Bois, mentions Seymour's work on Shakespeare, noting his surprise that Seymour complemented him, Lofft, in the preface.
