Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War I (WWI). General description of the collection: The Bickford E. Sawyer photograph collection consists of personal photographs of Major General Sawyer, Chief of Finance of the U.S. Army. His tenure in that position was from 1953 to 1955, and the majority of the collection is photo albums reflecting this service. Most of these photos were taken either in the Washington, D.C. area or at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, at the Finance School. There are several photos of General Sawyer as a lieutenant and captain during and after WWI and a handful of postcards from Germany about 1919. Other postcard groupings from this period include views of Camp Devens, Massachusetts and of scenes in the Panama Canal Zone.
