Letters of Alfred Tennyson, 1859-1876.

Letters of Alfred Tennyson, 1859-1876.

Tennyson sends unidentified correspondents thanks for a book and photographs of a house and the "Holy Grail"; asks Edward Moxon to forward some letters; tells an unidentified correspondent to apply to King & Co. for permission to include "Lotus-eaters" in a publication; and thanks Theodore Martin for a volume of his biography of the Prince Consort. Of interest is a [draft?] of a letter to Charles Kegan Paul expressing Tennyson's displeasure that a volume of his poems were incorrectly illustrated with views of his houses rather than vignettes applicable to the poems, an error he calls a "Yankeeism." In an 1868 letter, Emily Tennyson thanks an unidentified correspondent for his "brave & kind & flattering defence." In an 1869 letter she thanks W.C. Bennet for a poem. In an 1869 letter, Lionel Tennyson thanks W.C. Bennett for a book. In an 1869 letter, Hallam Tennyson thanks an unidentified correspondent for a present.
