Bill Green was the owner and operator of Bill Greens Terraced Gardens, a nightclub located at Route 51 and Lebanon Church Road in Pleasant Hills, from 1930 to 1952. The club brought many performers from the national circuit to Pittsburgh, including Lawrence Welk, Ted Weems, Eddie Howard, Earl Vernon, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, The Ink Spots, Tony Pastor, Jack McLean, Rudy Vallee, and Bobby Meeker. Band leader Sammy Kaye (SK) was born as Sam William Zarnocay on March 13, 1910 in Rocky River, Ohio. He attended Ohio University (OU) on a track scholarship and played basketball and baseball. Originally a civil engineering major, he soon forgot a career in his field of study when he fell in love with music instead.
