Campaign newspaper, 1844 Sept.

Volume 1, no. 1 of this Philadelphia published campaign newspaper. It contains Whig campaign songs, literature, and illustrations in support of Henry Clay's and Theodore Freylinghuysen's 1884 run for the presidency and vice-presidency, respectively. Many of the songs are set to familiar tunes of the day. The lyrics and illustrations praise Clay and the Whigs and are caustic toward Polk and other notable Democrats.
