John McAuley Palmer : papers, 1865 May-Sept. 28.

A letter, 1865 May, from the Committee of the General Council of Louisville to Palmer concerning overcrowding and the spreading of smallpox in Louisville due to the recently liberated women and children from other counties. An unsigned petition, 1865 Sept. 28, sent to Palmer requesting that the Louisville authorities "give decent burial to all Freedmen," who die within the city limits.
