Preston's 12 Nov. 1858 letter to John Glancy Jones noting that he received a letter from Lewis Cass stating that he (Preston) would sail for Europe in December and he would like to know if he could sail with Jones. Preston had been nominated as U.S. Minister to Spain by James Buchanan.
