Rowan, John, 1773-1843 1828 April 14 Letter.

Rowan writes to his friend James Morrison asking for his support for his son who is a candidate for state legislature from Nelson County, Ky. He hopes that his political enemies will not work to defeat his son. He continues with Washington news: tariff under discussion, fate uncertain and comments on Jackson, "his stock is high". He mentions a pamphlet he sent to Dr. Morrison that purports to disprove a medical theory.

John Rowan was a jurist and congressman born in York, Pa. He moved to Louisville in 1783 and Bardstown in 1790. He held several state political post before being elected to the Senate in 1825.
