The collection is comprised of papers concerning the enterprises and legal proceedings of Thomas G. Gooch. He was an executor of wills, a guardian of a business partner's daughter and a farmer who dealt in tobacco, cotton, wool, beehives and saw milling. Lists from 1845 to 1864 record prices paid for household and personal items and reflect the needs of a prosperous Logan County, Kentucky family. Included in the collection are Adkins family papers. These are mainly letters and sermons of an Ohio preacher.
