General description of the collection: The Dennis J. Reimer photograph collection consists of photographs for the years General Reimer served as Chief of Staff of the Army, 1995-1999. All photos are color prints. There are photos of visiting dignitaries from abroad, many being his equivalent in rank and position from other countries' armies. There are photos of reviews and ceremonies, many showing the U.S. Army Band and the Old Guard - 3rd U.S. Infantry Honor Guard Battalion and ceremonial units. There are photos of social events both at the Reimer's quarters #1 as well as at the Pentagon and elsewhere. Also photos of General Reimer's visits abroad and the state ceremonies in those countries. There are numerous photos of General Reimer visiting U.S. troops at stateside training areas and military posts, as well as, his visit to U.S. troops abroad, ie., Germany, Bosnia, etc. There are photos of Reimer's participation at Army vs. Navy football games and ten-mile run competitions, several in which he personally participated. There are numerous occasions of promotion ceremonies, award presentations and retirement ceremonies and parades for U.S. Army personnel, and there are numerous photos of the activities of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on which board General Reimer served.

Dennis J. Reimer was a United States (U.S.) Army officer and the 33rd Army Chief of Staff. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) in 1962. From 1962 to 1991 Reimer rose up the ranks from 2nd lieutenant to lieutenant general in various artillery, infantry and staff assignments during the 1960s through 1980s in Vietnam, Fort Carson, Fort Sill, Fort Benning, Fort Bliss, Armed Forces Staff College, the Pentagon, units assigned to the U.S. Army Europe, and Korea.
