Letter, 1883 Aug. 31.

Letter on Wisconsin State Historical Society letterhead discussing Draper's forty year long collection of materials for an intended biography of Daniel Boone. He describes a Boone tree near the head of Shawnee Run, on which Boone's initials were cut, and questions whether the initials were not actually "S.B." for Squire Boone. Also mentions Reuben Durrett's proposed work on Joseph Hamilton Daveiss, and says that Durrett could produce a "most credible work."
