Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following wars: World War II (WWII), Korean War. Contains photographs of the following military units: 6th Ordnance Company; 83rd Ordnance Battalion, 314th Ordnance Group. General description of the collection: The G.V. Piercy photograph collection consists of the photos kept by Lieutenant Colonel Piercy during his career in the United States (U.S.) Army Ordnance Corps. There are a few photos of Fort Niagara, New York and Savanna Proving Ground, Illinois in the period between the two World Wars. There are also a number of postcard photos of Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the 1930s. There are about 48 photos showing different aspects of the Panama Canal Zone between 1931 and 1933, especially at the Post of Corozal and Albrook Field. A series of photos covers Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) summer camp at Fort Meade, Maryland in 1938. There are also several photos each at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in 1939, Civilian Conservation Camp (CCC) for Company 1374 at Thurmont, Maryland and of Fort Monroe, Virginia, both in 1940. There are over 50 photos of the 1st Army maneuvers of Winthrop, New York in 1940, focusing on the 6th Ordnance Company. Another series covers Army Air Force activities and airfields in the Caribbean Area in 1940 and 1941 especially at Borinquen Field, Puerto Rico. A series shows how to transport aerial bombs by truck and Army Air Force troops are shown in a formation at Shambrook, England in 1943. Another series shows the Anniston, Alabama Army Depot between 1946 and 1949. All of the above are in box 1. The photos in box 2 relate to G.V. Piercy's experience in Korea in 1953 and 1954. They show the 83rd Ordnance Battalion, 314th Ordnance Group, the 46th and 57th Ammo Supply points, medical evacuation by helicopter, Inchon Harbor and the main line of resistance in Korea.
