Letter to John Page, 1794 October 3.

Young, Hobbs Hole, Tappahannock, Va., writes concerning the expedition to suppress the Pennsylvania Whiskey Rebellion. He has sent Page, commander of the 14th Brigade Virginia Militia, the first detachment from the brigade under Capt. Shackelford and orders Page to proceed immediately to Winchester, Va., with them. The remainder, under Capt. Bohannan, will follow. He urges Page to give Shackelford a staff appointment, encloses a recommendation for an unnamed person and wishes Page success on the expedition.

John Page (1744 – October 11, 1808) was a figure in early United States history. He served in the U.S. Congress and as Governor of Virginia. From the guide to the Memorandum, 1775, (John D.
