General description of the collection: The Douglas MacArthur photograph collection consists of a codification of photographs, many of them duplicates from other holdings of Douglas MacArthur to be used for quick reference when a patron is seeking general coverage of MacArthur. It is a useful collection, arranged chronologically from MacArthur's service in World War I to his return to the United States (U.S.) from Korea in 1951. There are portrait photos of MacArthur, as well as, good general coverage of his time in the Philippines both before and during World War II.

General of the Army Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an American five-star general and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines campaign, which made him and his father Arthur MacArthur Jr. the first father and son to be awarded the medal.
