Contains the following types of materials: photographs, photo albums. Covers the following wars: World War II (WWII), Korean War. Contains photographs of the following military units: 17th Regimental Combat Team. General description of the collection: The William W. Quinn photograph collection consists of photos which reflect the career of Lieutenant General William W. Quinn. There are some pre-WWII photos and those for WWII are excellent, some are even captured German photos. Those of World War II deal mainly with the European Theater in France, Belgium and Germany, but there are also some photos of the Pacific Theater as well. There are photos of Quinn commanding the 17th Regimental Combat Team (RCT) in Korea in 1950 and numerous photos of his subsequent career as a general officer. The later events of his career are mostly of socials, parades, visits to various installations, etc. The photo albums contain photos of the construction and dedication of the Infantryman Statue at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1960; a visit to the Army Intelligence Center at Fort Holabird, Maryland in 1958; portraits of the staff of Headquarters Command Group; and the John J. Pershing Centennial Celebration in 1960. There are also several photos of a buffalo farm and the ceremonial buffalo of the 17th RCT (Infantry). There are a number of aerial photos of terrain in Korea, notably the Inchon area.

William Wilson Quinn (b. Nov. 1, 1907, Crisfield, Md.-d. Sept. 11, 2000), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1933 and early in his career served as a company commander of infantry and provost marshal, Manila, Philippines. During World War II, he was assigned to IV Corps and 7th Army as deputy chief of staff for intelligence. He also served in that position for X Corps in Korea, and was commanding officer, 7th Infantry Division, 17th Infantry Regiment, in Korea (1950-1951). Later in ...
