This project includes interviews with ten people whose work and influence were critical to the growth and development of the Upper Midwest Women's History Center. The Center was founded (1980) as a teacher training center to assist teachers in teaching a world view of history that included women. It built on the work of the Women in World Area Studies project (1977-1987) that created lessons on the history of women that could be integrated into world history courses at the secondary level.
