Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units: Various units in the European Theater of Operations (ETO). General description of the collection: The Robert M. Stegmaier photograph collection consists of copies of Signal Corps and ETO photographs of WWII in Italy, France, and Germany during the last two years of the war. There are numerous photos of towns and villages in the various countries that had sustained damage or were still being fought over at the time the photos were taken. There are numerous photos of atrocities and concentration camps, namely Struthof, Lager #3 and Stalag #4. There are a series of photos of the execution of a spy. There are photos of captured German army personnel and German prisoners of war (POWs) working at cleaning up various villages and burying the unfortunates at the concentration camp. There are numerous photos of the countryside being contacted and many showing armored vehicle and soldiers. There are a few photos also of high ranking American, French and German officers.
