Crowell discusses the evolution of New Jersey State Normal School at Trenton (later State Teachers College and State Normal School at Trenton, New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton, and Trenton State College) from a female-dominated teachers college to a comprehensive college offering a wide range of degree programs. Victor L. Crowell, Professor Emeritus of Science and Physics, was born in 1902 and earned a B.S. from Cornell University, an M.A. from Columbia University, and an Ed.D. from Rutgers Unviersity; taught at Trenton State College from 1928 to 1972 and served as chair of Science Department from 1942 to 1968; had the old science building named Crowell Hall in his honor.
