American big league stars, program, 1934, December 9-10. 1934.

A program for games played by representatives from the American League on December 9-10, 1934. The players participating include Eric McNair, Charlie Gehringer, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Earl Averill, Bing Miller, Moe Berg, Frank Hayes, Lefty Gomez, Earl Whitehill, Clint Brown, Joe Cascarella, and Harold Warstler. Although Connie Mack headed the delegation, Babe Ruth took the role as manager when the team was on the field. Two games were played on the 9th, the first starting at 8:30 AM. The games were played against players from the Phillipine Islands Olympic Baseball Team and the Bay Leaguers; the team from the United States won all three games. A rudimentary scorecard is provided in the program and each game was scored with notes about home runs by Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth and Earl Averill. The games were played at Jose Rizal Baseball Stadium in Manila. The cover is orange, green and white with a photograph of Babe Ruth. The text is in English.

George Herman Ruth was born February 6, 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland to Katherine and George Herman Ruth Sr. In 1902, Ruth was sent to St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, an orphanage and reformatory, at the age of seven to teach him discipline. It was here that he learned to play baseball. He signed a contract with the minor league Baltimore Orioles in 1914.
