Collection of French copper plate engravings, 1875 (ca.).

The collection consists of a scrapbook containing the engravings and explanatory matter. The first 96 engravings are views and portraits used to illustrate "Port-Royal" by Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve. Most of the remianing plates are portraits of prominent 17th and 18th century Frenchmen. Explanations and genealogies are tipped in. There are also three letters from W.S. Gilman to Ditchfield concerning the Port Royal engravings.
