Letter to Daniel H. Miller [manuscirpt], 1809 February 15.

Wilson relates the death of George Duncan in Nofolk, Va., from yellow fever, and continues with his description of his canvassing tour to sell "American Ornithology" from Norfolk southward. He describes the muddy streets of Norfolk and flooded conditions elsewhere; the products of North Carolina, including turpentine, tar, hogs and apple brandy; alligators; cypress swamps; hunting rare birds at Murfreesboro; wealthy "Nabob" rice planters and hospitable Negroes; the climate in Charleston; and a horse trade. He comments that "the infamous and execrabale system of slavery ... has debased not only the slaves but their masters."
