John J. Knox photograph collection. 1943-1945.

Contains the following types of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military unit: Medical Corps, 9th Air Force. General description of the collection: John J. Knox photograph collection contains a very few photos on medical related subjects except for several images of evacuating wounded on stretchers on a Jeep and lots of battle casualties - dead men. There are numerous photos showing wreckage of gliders, but the location in unknown. Likewise, there are numerous post battle photos showing dead bodies and destroyed tanks and other equipment. There are photos of bombed out towns. There are numerous photos of American light aircraft and their pilots and crews and several photos of Knox and his buddies in Egypt, perhaps on an rest and recuperation (R & R) excursion. It is unknown who took these photos, but some are unusual and are not the standard Signal Corps photos that are so often seen.

John J. Knox was a member of the United States (U.S.) Army Medical Corps serving with the 9th Air Force during World War II.
