The propagation of Social Credit principles in Queensland in the 1920s and 1930s was largely the work of Brisbane resident W.H. Rhys, not Eric Butler as elsewhere in Australia. Populist, anti- semitic and tightly organised, Social Credit gained wide support during the depressed 1930s. In 1939, 39 Social Credit members stormed the Queensland Parliament.
