Series 2, 6-7, 11-12 of RG 65-37 consists of records relating to iron sales of the Cleveland-Cliff Iron Company. The record group includes: statement of sales (1867-90) of pig iron and ore sold, consigned, and on hand, with related financial records; statements of cost of mining ore and making iron (1874-93); monthly statement of pig iron transported and shipped on account of the company (1879-80, 1885); orders (1873, 1878, 1880); and bills of lading for lake ore shipments (1868, 1872, 1879, 1885).

The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company was formed in 1891 with the merger of the Cleveland Iron Mining Co. and the Iron Cliffs Co. The Michigan office of the new company was established in Ishpeming.
