General description of the collection: The Dr. John Hyson photograph collection contains photographs of a varied and extensive military scence and history subject nature from this avid collector. While the collection has a heavy concentration on Army dentistry, many other military related subjects are found. A cursory list of these subjects found in this collection are: surgeons from the Civil War to WWII, hospitals, Spanish-American War, Philippines, Mexican Border, 1902-1916, WWI, WWII, National Guard and militia, Regulars, and Black soldiers. It is a gem of a collection for various uniform types and for the not-so-often seen glimpses of Army life of various periods of time.
