General description of the collection: The Calvin Dewitt, Jr. photograph collection consists of photos which basically follow his career from the 3rd United States (U.S.) Cavalry to assignments in the Philippines in the early 1920s to the Cavalry School at Fort Riley, Kansas from 1926-1934 through numerous photos dealing with his various assignments with the New York and Boston ports of embarkation during World War II (WWII). The few photos post dating WWII are of his service in the Philippines and Japan, 1945-1946 and two of the offloading of an atomic cannon from a ship in 1953.

Brigadier General Calvin DeWitt Jr. graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) and was commissioned a second lieutenant of Cavalry on June 13, 1916.
