Letterbook of Robert Anderson, 1698-1717.

The letterbook contains copies of Anderson's letters to ship captains, English merchants, and consignors, particularly his partners Cuthbert Jones and Samuel Clarke of London, and Virginia planters, particularly John Page and Richard Lee. The book also contains letters regarding the estate settlement of John Page and letters, 1715-1717, by Anderson's executors regarding his estate settlement. Topics include the annual tobacco crop, prices, rates of exchange, shipping rates, competition between merchants of London and other cities for Virginia trade, store-keeping, and the duties of a Virginia factor. Personal letters include one, 1714, desiring Jones to find a schoolmaster for Anderson's children.
