One of a group of copy negatives taken for October 9, 1956, Arkansas Gazette article, "Old Ferry Crossing Lets the River Push It Across," A4:7. Copy negatives are of Arkansas from a railroad booklet ca. 1900-1905. The ferry crossing, bluff and water of Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas was described by many travelers on the White River. Images include, a man with a horse on Buzzard Rock, near Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas (1503.02); a man on Calico Bluffs, Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas (1503.03); a man at Calico River Landing on the White River, Izard County, Arkansas (1503.04); a home near Mebourne, Izard County, Arkansas (1503.05); a ferry crossing the White River at Nelson's Ferry, Arkansas (1503.06); a cabin home in the Ozark Mountains (1503.21), a United States mailman on a Mule (1503.22); and the "Ozark Queen" steamboat at Calico Rock, Izard County, Arkansas (1503.2).
